The Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is proud to announce the launch of the CMPA Equity Scholarship 2024, aimed at supporting Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis), and other racialized medical professionals. This scholarship initiative is part of CMPA’s ongoing commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the medical community.
About the CMPA Equity Scholarship
The CMPA Equity Scholarship is designed to address systemic barriers and socioeconomic challenges faced by underrepresented groups in the healthcare field. This scholarship provides a unique opportunity for physicians and physician trainees from equity-deserving groups to advance their careers and contribute to a more inclusive and diverse healthcare system.

Benefits
CMPA is pleased to offer three Equity Scholarships to support attendance at the 2024 Family Medicine Forum (FMF) in Vancouver, BC, November 6-9. Recipients will receive complimentary registration for the forum. However, it's important to note that the scholarship does not cover travel, lodging, or other associated costs.
Eligible Nationalities
CMPA Equity Scholarship at University of Toronto is open to all nationalities.
Eligibility Criteria
Black, Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis), and racialized physicians and trainees are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Application Procedure
HOW TO APPLY
To apply for the CMPA Equity Scholarship complete the following steps:
- Write a brief response to how your participation at FMF 2024 would benefit your future and why this is important for you (max 400 words).
- Include your current résumé.
- Submit your application in English or French to advocacy@cmpa.org by August 16, 2024. Successful applicants will be notified by August 30, 2024.
A selection panel will review each application and award a scholarship based on need and the application package submitted. If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to advocacy@cmpa.org.
