You will be conferred a Master of Environmental Studies if you finish a master course at any of the above mentioned departments. - Department of International Studies

Eligibility Criteria
- Be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country and Japanese ODA scholarship-eligible country.
- Be admitted to an approved master's course at a Designated Institution.
- Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent with superior academic record.
- Have at least two years of full-time professional working experience (acquired after a university degree) at the time of application.
- Have proficiency in oral and written English communication skills.
- Be not more than 35 years old at the time of application, unless waived in exceptional cases with the expressed endorsement of the Government of Japan.
- Be in good health.
- Agree to return and work in your home country for at least two (2) years after completion of studies under the Program in order to contribute to its development.
- Not be an Executive Director, Alternate Director, management, staff, or consultants of ADB, or their close relatives.
- Not be staff of ADB-JSP Designated Institutions.
- Not be living or working in a country other than your home country.
- Not already be enrolled in graduate degree programs.
Application Procedure
1. Eligibility Check:
- Before you begin your application, it's important to confirm you meet the ADB-JSP scholarship requirements. You can find the complete list on the ADB website.
2. Find Your Supervisor:
- To ensure a successful application, identify a faculty member at GSFS who aligns with your research interests and would be willing to supervise your master's thesis. Visit the department website or the GSFS faculty listing for potential supervisors.
3. Submit GSFS Application:
- By December 10th, 2024, you'll need to upload your application materials to a designated URL provided by GSFS. This will be your application for admission to the master's program itself.
4. ADB Scholarship Nomination (Conditional):
- Only shortlisted candidates who have submitted all required documents for GSFS admission will be considered for the ADB scholarship nomination in mid-February. GSFS will then nominate successful applicants to the ADB by the end of March.
5. ADB Selection and Notification:
- The ADB will review nominated candidates and announce their final selection decision in May.
6. Admission and Immigration Process (if selected for ADB scholarship):
- If you receive the ADB scholarship, GSFS will guide you through the admission and immigration procedures between May and September.
7. Arrival and Enrollment:
- By late September, you'll enter Japan with a student visa and officially enroll in GSFS. The autumn semester typically starts on October 1st.
