Swedish Institute (SI) Global Professional Scholarship 2025-2026

Exciting news from Sweden! The Sweden Government Scholarship for the academic year 2025/26  is now open for applications. International students have the opportunity to apply for various master’s degree programs. Applications for the prestigious Swedish Institute (SI) Global Professional Scholarship 2025 will be opened soon.

Administered by the Swedish Institute (SI), this fully funded scholarship covers over 700 master’s programs. Master’s programs range from one to two years in duration. Notably, IELTS is not a mandatory requirement for the SI Global Scholarship, although applicants must meet the admission criteria set by the universities.

Degree Level

SI Sweden Government Global Professional Scholarship 2025/2026 (Fully Funded and Without IELTS) is available to undertake Masters level programs at Swedish Institute.

Available Subjects

Approximately 700 English-taught master’s programs are eligible for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals, spanning various fields including humanities, agricultural sciences, medicine and public health, natural sciences, social sciences, and technology.

For a strong application, it’s important to demonstrate how your chosen education will contribute to the sustainable development of your home country and region. You must clearly explain in your scholarship application how your selected programs align with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.


Benefits

  • Full tuition fee coverage paid directly to the Swedish university at the start of each semester.
  • Monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 for living expenses during the study period.
  • Insurance for illness and accidents.
  • One-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*SEK 10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine). Not applicable for students already residing in Sweden.
  • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) for professional growth and networking opportunities during studies.
  • Post-scholarship membership in the SI Alumni Network for continued networking and professional development.

The scholarship does not:

  • Provide additional funds for family members.
  • Cover the application fee to University Admissions.
  • Support changes to the awarded master’s program.
  • Allow extensions or alterations to the scholarship duration.

Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply to the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals: Armenia; Azerbaijan; Bangladesh; Bolivia; Belarus; Brazil; Cambodia; Cameroon; Colombia; Ecuador; Egypt; Ethiopia; Gambia; Georgia; Ghana; Guatemala; Honduras; Indonesia; Jordan; Kenya; Liberia; Malawi; Moldova; Morocco; Myanmar (Burma); Nepal; Nigeria; Pakistan; Peru; Philippines; Rwanda; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Sudan; Tanzania; Tunisia; Uganda; Ukraine; Vietnam; Zambia; Zimbabwe.


Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship:

  • Must be a citizen of an eligible country (not required to reside there at the time of application)

Master's Programs:

  • Must apply for an eligible master's program (over 750+ English-taught programs available)

University Admission:

  • Must be liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities
  • Must have followed the University Admissions process
  • Must be admitted to an eligible master's program on the admissions announcement day

Work and Leadership Experience:

  • Demonstrated work experience is required (conditions may apply to certain regions)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience from current or previous employer or civil society engagement is essential

Application Procedure

Stage 1: Apply to Master's Programs (Oct 2024 – Jan 2025)


  • Find and apply to eligible master's programs in Sweden through the University Admissions website. This is the first step!


Stage 2: Scholarship Information Released (Nov 2024)


  • Keep an eye out! The Swedish Institute will publish all the details and required documents for the SI Scholarship application on their official website in November.


Stage 3: Apply for the Scholarship (Feb 2025)


  • The application portal for the SI Scholarship opens in February. Make sure you have all the necessary documents gathered beforehand (check the call letter here for details). The deadline for SI Scholarship is 26th February, 2025.


Stage 4: University Admissions Decisions (March 2025)


  • In March, you'll receive news from University Admissions about whether you've been accepted into your chosen master's program.


Stage 5: Scholarship Announcement (April 2025)


  • The Swedish Institute will announce who has been awarded the SI Scholarship in April. Keep your fingers crossed!
