La Trobe University is inviting applications for Mathematics and Statistics Doctoral Research Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding international candidates to undertake research on a project funded by the Australian Research Council.

University periodically offers specialist scholarship opportunities that support key research projects. The PhD student will work in the area of random fields that are described as solutions of stochastic differential equations on a sphere or a ball.

The Project `New Methods in Theory and Cosmic Applications of Spherical Random Fields’ aims to investigate and model spherical random fields which are described as solutions of stochastic differential equations on a sphere or a ball. The project will study properties and develop spectral analysis of these solutions.

Eligibility Criteria: This scholarship is open to new applicants only. Applicants should have a high level of achievement, including a first class honours degree or equivalent in Probability, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or a related field

Entrance Requirement: Applicants should have a high level of achievement, including a first class honours degree or equivalent in Probability, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or a related field.

English Language Requirement: If applicants have their TOEFL results sent directly to La Trobe, their TOEFL institutional code is 9785.
IELTS Academic: A minimum overall score of 6.0 with no individual band less than 6.0.
TOEFL Computer-based: A minimum score of 213 (minimum score of 5 in essay writing).
TOEFL Paper-based: A minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English.
TOEFL Internet-based: A minimum score of 60 with minimum overall for SLR 18;W 22.
