Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) offers a comprehensive range of Freshman Guaranteed Scholarships for academically qualified students enrolling in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026. These merit-based scholarships reward high-achieving students based on their ACT or SAT scores and cumulative high school GPA. Eligible students can receive up to $6,000 per year in scholarship funding for up to eight semesters.

MTSU does not accept super-scores. Only the highest official composite score submitted by the December 1 deadline will be used for awarding.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for an MTSU Freshman Guaranteed Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a first-time, incoming freshman planning to enroll in Summer or Fall 2025
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Submit a completed application for admission at mtsu.edu/apply
- Ensure the following are on file with the Admissions Office by December 1, 2024:
- Admissions application
- Application fee (or approved fee waiver)
- Official ACT or SAT scores (excluding writing sub-scores)
- 6th-semester high school transcript showing GPA through junior year
- 7th-semester transcripts may be considered if submitted before the deadline
Scholarship Renewal Requirements
Scholarships are renewable for up to eight semesters (four years) if students:
- Remain enrolled full-time each Fall and Spring in coursework that counts toward their degree
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00
- Stay continuously enrolled without breaks
Renewal eligibility is evaluated at the end of each Fall and Spring semester.
Additional Guidelines and Fine Print
- Scholarships do not stack with other guaranteed or departmental MTSU scholarships
- Weighted GPAs are accepted if included on official transcripts
- Students graduating with a GED or HiSET are not eligible
- Scholarships are not available for summer enrollment

- Students may receive both a university scholarship and a Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship
- Scholarship amounts may be reduced if total financial aid exceeds Cost of Attendance (COA)
Application Procedure
Extended Deadline Opportunity
Students who apply by August 1, 2025, may still be considered for Fall 2025 scholarships, depending on academic eligibility and availability of funding.
No Separate Scholarship Application Required
No separate application is needed to be considered for guaranteed academic scholarships. Once the admissions application and supporting documents are submitted, eligible students will be automatically reviewed for scholarship consideration. Award notifications will be sent by February 2025, and students must accept their scholarship offer by May 1, 2025 through their PipelineMT account.
