The Department of Physiology at Makerere University, in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University (USA), is offering a unique fully funded Master’s scholarship opportunity for Ugandans under a grant from the U.S. NIH Fogarty International Center.
This program aims to build national capacity in biomedical engineering research and innovation, supporting future leaders in medical device development, diagnostics, and healthcare data technologies.

Eligibility Criteria
Who Can Apply?
This Biomedical Engineering MSc scholarship 2025 is open to students who:
- Are Ugandan nationals with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a health-related field from a recognized university
- Are currently enrolled in a relevant Master’s program at Makerere University
- Have completed year one of their MSc studies with good academic standing
- Are interested in medical devices and technological innovation
Selection Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A strong academic record and relevant technical background
- Clear interest in biomedical engineering and innovation
- A research proposal that addresses health-related technology challenges in Uganda
- Willingness to participate in an oral interview (scheduled for May 2, 2025)
