Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for three full-time doctoral research fellowships in Youth Mental Health. These fellowships will support doctoral students with an academic background in social sciences, behavioural sciences, or health sciences to undertake a four-year structured PhD in youth mental health.


Scholarship Provider: The National University of Ireland Galway is located in Ireland’s most westerly city of Galway. A tertiary-level teaching and research institution, it is ranked among the top 1% of universities in the world.


The candidate should have a very good command of English language. Therefore, the application should be written in English.


Degree Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing e full-time doctoral research programme.


Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded in the field of Youth Mental Health.


Number of Scholarships: There are three scholarships available.


Eligible Nationalities: Citizens of Ireland are eligible to apply.


Eligibility Criteria: Suitable candidates will have an undergraduate background in social sciences, behavioural sciences or other field relevant to youth mental health research (at least a 2.1 honours degree). Candidates will normally also have achieved a Master’s level degree in an area related to mental health research.


Language Requirements: The candidate should have a very good command of English language. Therefore, the application should be written in English.

  • Brief cover letter (stating top three preferences for the research projects listed above).

  • CV

  • Based on one of your top three projects, provide a 1-page research statement that outlines your interest in that project, what you see as relevant questions to address in the project, and/or the methodologies that might be relevant.

  • Contact details for two referees (two academic or one academic/one clinical).
