Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for Postgraduate Scholarships and Bursaries in Catholic Studies / Catholic Theology for 2019-2020 academic year at Durham University in the UK. The ICE Louis Lafosse Bi-centenary PhD Scholarship is open only to full-time candidates. All other scholarships and bursaries are open to both full-time and part-time candidates.All fees-only scholarships and bursaries will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, particularly in relation to a shortfall in fees funding, coupled with excellent academic performance.
Scholarship Provider: Durham University is a collegiate public research university in Durham, North East England, with a second campus in Stockton-on-Tees. The university is currently ranked 4th to 6th by recent national league tables of the British universities and in the top 100 in three of the four major global tables.
Degree Level: Scholarships and bursaries are available to pursue Postgraduate programme.
Available Subject: Scholarships are awarded in Catholic Theology / Catholic Studies for 2019-2020.
Scholarship Benefits: With the exception of the Institute of Christian Education Louis Lafosse Bi-centenary PhD Scholarship, due to the very limited amount of funds available, no support can be given towards maintenance costs, just help towards tuition fees. Any student already in receipt of any grants will have these totalled against their fees requirement.
Eligible Nationalities: Scholarships are available for both fulltime and part time international students.

Candidates within the Department of Theology and Religion registering for the following courses are eligible to apply.*
- MA in Christian Theology (Catholic Studies) (V8K607)
OR
- MA by Research, MLitt, DThM, Integrated PhD, PhD, each with a clear focus in Catholic Studies / Catholic Theology.
Full-/part-time study
The ICE Louis Lafosse Bi-centenary PhD Scholarship is open only to full-time candidates.
All other scholarships and bursaries are open to both full-time and part-time candidates.
Residence
All scholarship and bursary holders must reside sufficiently proximate to Durham as to be able to take a full part in the life, work, and events of the Centre for Catholic Studies.
The covering letter should include: details of the applicant’s proposed course of studies (e.g. anticipated modules and envisaged dissertation topic for MA students; and a summary of the research proposal for research students); and details of how their proposed course of study fits into the story of their academic career and how they plan subsequently to use their studies in relation to Catholic theological education and/or research, and/or wider service in church/society.
