Role Overview: Research Fellow in Materials Science
As a Research Fellow in the Surfaces, Materials, and Catalysis Group, your primary focus will be the development, characterization, and evaluation of electrocatalysts. Working under the leadership of Professor Karen Wilson, you will play an essential role in advancing the group’s objectives within the ARC Centre of Excellence. This opportunity includes laboratory and fieldwork, as well as mentoring future researchers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct innovative research aligned with the ARC Centre’s objectives to develop electrocatalysts for green CO₂ transformation.
- Publish research findings in high-impact international journals and seek competitive funding.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to advance group research projects.
- Mentor and supervise higher degree research candidates, fostering a positive research culture.
- Occasionally travel across Griffith University’s multiple campuses, contributing to inter-campus collaborations.

Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you will need the following qualifications and expertise:
- PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
- Proficiency in advanced spectroscopy or electron microscopy to analyze physicochemical properties of nanoparticles and porous materials.
- Experience in designing and operating reaction cells for in-situ or operando catalysis measurements.
- (Desirable) Competency in computational modeling, including DFT, molecular dynamics, or CFD simulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to contributing positively to the University’s research culture.
