Faculty of Science and Environment PhD Studentships at Plymouth University in UK, 2014


Applications are invited for PhD Studentships within the faculty of Science and Environment at Plymouth University. The studentships are supported for 3 years and include full Home/EU tuition fees plus a stipend of £13,863 per annum. The studentships will only fully fund those applicants who are eligible for Home/EU fees with relevant qualifications. Applicants normally required to cover overseas fees will have to cover the difference between the Home/EU and the overseas tuition fee rates (approximately £9,950 per annum). The application deadline is 4th July 2014.




  • Studentships are awarded in the School of Biomedical and Healthcare Sciences. The Project titles:

    • -Characterisation of Plasmodium signalling networks regulating sexual differentiation of the malaria parasite

    • -Investigating Pathogenesis of Emerging Virulent Clones of Uropathogenic E coli

    • -Genetic analysis of postpartum psychosis

    • -Endogenous Retroviruses as Immunotherapy Targets



  • Studentships are available for undertaking PhD research project.

  • Plymouth University is providing these PhD Scholarships.

  • The studentships are supported for 3 years and include full Home/EU tuition fees plus a stipend of £13,863 per annum.   • Up to 4 PhD studentships will be awarded.

  • Studentships will be available for a period of 3 years.

  • The studentships are supported for 3 years and include full Home/EU tuition fees plus a stipend of £13,863 per annum. The studentships will only fully fund those applicants who are eligible for Home/EU fees with relevant qualifications. Applicants normally required to cover overseas fees will have to cover the difference between the Home/EU and the overseas tuition fee rates (approximately £9,950 per annum).

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interview at the end of July. Applicants who have not received an offer of a place by August should consider their application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.

  • Applicants should send a completed application form along with a covering letter detailing their suitability for the studentship, C.V., and 2 references via post or e-mail catherine.johnson-at-plymouth.ac.uk.


Eligibility: Applicants should have (at least) ‘A’ level chemistry plus a first or upper second class honours degree in chemistry (or closely allied subject) and preferably experience of working with chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques in an industrial or similar laboratory.
