Benefits
Financial Support for Up to 2 Years:
- Full tuition coverage: A*STAR will pay all your tuition fees for the duration of your Master's program (up to 2 years).
- Monthly living allowance: You'll receive a monthly stipend to cover your living expenses while studying abroad.
- Annual round-trip airfare: A*STAR will cover the cost of one round-trip flight between Singapore and your university location each year.
Additional allowances:
- Conference allowance: Financial support to attend relevant academic conferences.
- Thesis allowance: Funding to assist with research and thesis-related expenses.
- Computer allowance: Help with purchasing a computer for your studies.
- Settling-in allowance: Financial assistance to help you adjust to living and studying abroad.
Mid-Term NSS (Masters) Awards:
Students who join the scholarship program after starting their Master's program (Mid-Term NSS) will receive the same level of support as full-term awardees. This includes reimbursement for any tuition fees and compulsory fees you've already paid from the beginning of your first year.
Please note: The specific amounts for each allowance may be adjusted by A*STAR from time to time.
Eligible Nationalities
This scholarship is only open to Singapore citizens.
Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements:
- Be a citizen of Singapore.
- Possess (or be on track to receive) a strong bachelor's degree (minimum: 2nd Upper Class Honours or equivalent) in a relevant field. This applies even if you're in your final year, but the scholarship will only be awarded upon successful graduation with the required grade.
- Have applied (or plan to apply) for a Master of Research (or similar) program at a prestigious international university, focusing on a designated research area.
- Demonstrate a strong passion for pursuing a career in research.
Mid-Term NSS (Masters) Applicants:
- Be a Singapore citizen.
- Currently enrolled in a top university abroad, with at least one semester completed at the time of application.
- Maintain excellent academic standing in your current degree program.
- Show clear potential and/or accomplishments in research.
- Have at least one recommendation letter from a tenured professor or equivalent in your field.

- These criteria are a general guideline, and A*STAR may consider additional factors based on their current scholarship policies. These policies are subject to change without prior notice.
- Applications from other research areas are still encouraged.
Application Procedure
Application Deadlines:
There are two application cycles for the NSS (Masters) scholarship:
- First Cycle: Applications open on January 1st and close on April 1st. (Closed)
- Second Cycle: Applications open on July 1st and close on October 1st. (Going to be opened soon)

Selection Process:
- Applications are reviewed, and shortlisted candidates are contacted for two rounds of interviews.
Announcement Timeline:
- First Cycle: Shortlisted candidates are notified for interviews between mid-April and May. Successful applicants are informed by mid-June.
- Second Cycle: Interviews for shortlisted candidates occur between mid-October and mid-November. Successful applicants are notified by December.
